Prop: Gamzee Makara Horns

Tutorial/WIP photo of how i made my Gamzee Horns

Description of what i did:

I made the base of the horns from expanding foam, as that it very light.

I first drew Gamzee's Horns in photoshop, printed the form out, cut it out on something like cardboard since paper is too thin and wrinkles way to easy when you spray the foam on. Sprayed expanding foam on the cardboard base, let it dry ( this shit takes ages to dry, and sometimes it has too big bubbles in them that i had to spray some more foam in and let it dry, takes hours to dry D= )

And then used a box cutter to cut it down into it's shape. The cardboard base inside of the foam serves as a reminder to where i my not cut, and gives me an idea on the form of the horns.

Once both horns were cut out, i put 1 layer of tape on them, then i put 1 layer of painting tape ( or just some more sturdy tape)

After that i cut some newspaper into stripes and used wallpaper paste to make it stick to the horns and let them dry.

The next step is i used filler in powder form mixed with water, since we did not have filler that was ready. i applied a thin layer, but not too thin on the whole thing and let that dry too, then i sanded the horns with sandpaper, some rough sandpaper, and then some finer sand paper(1000) to make it completely smooth. Then you will be bound to have a few holes or maybe cracks or something(see the 6th picture, i filled those with some more filler after all of the rest had dried, and sanded the areas that needed it.

Then i got some red, yellow and white paint.
I first applied a whole layer of very light orange, then the 2nd layer of light orange, and the last layer of orange ( see photo )
